Vazoom Closer to Becoming a Registered Trademark

Filed Under (Dorky Stuff, News, Various) by admin on 25-01-2011

With the official release of the January 25, 2011 U.S. Patent Office Gazette the request for trademark of Vazoom goes up for opposition. It’s been interesting to see the process by which new trademarks are filed for and granted.  It’s also quite a shock to see how many trademarks are applied for and modified.  The entire process is for the most part public knowledge too.

Any party who believes it will be damaged by the registration of the mark may file a notice of opposition (or extension of time therefor) with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.  If no party files an opposition or extension request within thirty (30) days after the publication date, then within twelve (12) weeks of the publication date a certificate of registration should issue.  Below is the official mark and description.  A direct link to the full gazette can be found at http://www.uspto.gov/web/trademarks/tmog/20110125_OG.pdf#page=1

Goodbye Verizon Fios Business Internet … Hello Comcast Business Class Internet

Filed Under (News) by admin on 14-09-2010

My house will now be a hybrid of Internet/TV services.  I have decided to dump FiOS Business Internet Service and replace it with Comcast Business Internet.  Although my throughput speeds will drop I will still save $40/month on Internet service.  Currently my Verizon plan provides me with 15Mbps(down)/5Mbps(up) whereas the new Comcast Business Starter package will provide me with 12Mbps(down)/2Mbps(up).  Of course with my experiences over the year with Comcast this bandwidth figure could be under estimated and I may end up seeing slighter higher speeds.  Both services provided me with 5 static IP addresses which I need for some Vazoom services for a total of $20.  Comcast will actually provide 13 addresses if needed for an additional charge.  My estimated savings per month are $40 which in 6 to 7 months will eat away the cancellation fee I will be hit with by Verizon. I have decided to keep FioS TV Residential services for the moment but will keep an eye out on savings. Verizon .. if you want me back please stop sending mailers to my house asking me to bundle all of your services.  Beat my service charges now and maybe I will come back.  $Chah-Ching$

It’s official.  August 14, 2010 I will be headed to Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City to see my second ever Barry Manilow concert.  Make fun of me if you will but ever since I was a little kid I loved hearing and attempting to sing his songs.  If you have ever known me you may already know this.   23rd row on the floor here I come.  Nerd out.

More House Updates….Some Info .. GallBladder Surgery Tomorrow (Friday)

Filed Under (House, News) by admin on 30-07-2009

I have been really slacking on the posts as of late.  Yes the house is still coming along.  I am working on the sunroom and putting some insulation and will be putting drywall over the existing stucco/concrete walls in that room.  I am also going to tap into the existing heating/air cooling system and run a duct into that room.  I ran an additional electrical line into the room along with a coax line for tv.  To be honest I really don’t know what that room will be but I know it needs help so that it won’t be 0 degrees in the winter.  The new windows will also play a huge roll in helping with this though.  I have to take some updated pictures with my normal camera when I get a sec.

Also, I will be having my gallbladder removed tomorrow at Lankaneau Hospital.  Surgery scheduled for 11am.  Several weeks ago I was in intense pain around my stomach and had to go to the ER.  After hours of fun at the ER and several tests it was determined I had gallstones!  Soon after a meeting with a surgeon it was determined that surgery to remove it was the best course of action especially to prevent future trouble.  I will have to stay over in the hospital overnight.    I’m definitely nervous about the whole thing and today I have to call up and find out what time on Friday the surgery will be at.

Is My Car About to Become a Collector’s Item?

The top story posted on the CNN.com website is about how GM is planning under the auto restructuring plans to eliminate and or sell numerous brands.  Saturn is one of the names which under the plans could face elimination.  News reports state that GM would focus their attention on the four core brands – Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC.  Pontiac, Saab, and Hummer also face uncertain ground with the whole crapfest.

As everybody knows, I own a 2007 Saturn Sky Turbo.  What does this mean for me?  Does my car go up in value?  Down in value?  Stay the same?  Do parts for the vehicle go through the roof or stay reasonably priced?  I think the Saturn line of vehicles is very nice and it would be ashame to completely eliminate the brand.  At the very least consolidate the Poniac and Saturn lines of vehicles.  I personally found it dumb to have a Solstice and Sky vehicle.  Personally, the Sky looks much nicer than the Solstice.    Additional article information at the link:
